The Crisis: Housing
I feel so mindboggled, in a whirlwind of dismay for doing absolutely nothing wrong. This is an experience I want to share more than you know. The result is loosing my home now twice due to slumlords and the lack of enforcement of code. “Bare minimum” was the most beloved phrase in that City. Rhode Island is landlord friendly and not all the rules are followed. I've learned the process that a tenant is meant to take for repair. When requested, the landlord is supposed to tend to the problem in a reasonable time period. In Rhode Island and many others, states are lenient with following proper code enforcement.
So the result is I speak up, I'm seen as a nuisance, even with the mayor claiming that he cared. 30 days and get out. Proper heat, plumbing and general maintenance should be standard. Oh wait, they are as long as it is 68 degrees in the room, hot water must be 110 at all times, Chief inspector ignored my legitimate complaints, friction built bickering for 2 years and pretty much said good riddance. "You've made her spend 30 grand and still unsatisfied get a realtor" I know there were tons of biased opinions in the office, they mistreated me, minimized my complaints all in which I have evidence. I had no home had to move to hotel room when the record breaking blizzard 2026 came through, quite an experience.
They've now blocked me from contacting by any means otherwise I'm harassing and threatened they'll go legal. Simply because I asked for repairs done by a professional rather than her handyman son I am now homeless. I am at an extended stay hotel for the time being. I have done nothing wrong yet I'm in this valley.
I also wanted the reassurance that sharing my experiences wouldn't be defamatory remarks if all is true and it my opinion. My opinion is simply that certain employees are lying Pinocchio's, and the landlords are the puppet masters, Geppetto's. Commission of ethics gave me the a okay. I would look rather foolish talking to myself in a mirror; Chief inspector said I needed to contact 988 for mental crisis, I am a certified adult mental health first aid.
