Ableism: A widespread stigma

Ableism is a discrimination and/or mistreatment of the disabled due to beliefs of being disabled makes you inferior. A disability gets seen as something is wrong with you, and you need to get fixed. This definitely applies to epilepsy. Stigma beliefs tied to seizures easily make people reject before giving a warrior the chance to show they're a quality friend. There was times I wanted to vent and got the response "Don't use the seizures as a crutch" it makes my blood boil, you think I want this? If anything I just want to take off the armor, walk away on my own two feet with a smile on my face. The continuous chance of having that "last one" makes that out of reach. Although I have no reason to explain myself, I often want to sit a few people down and show just my epilepsy timeline; I have had ER visits, VNS implant, multiple meds, and even had to get counseling for the toll it's taken on mentally. People don't know half of it but still try to judge.
