It is very hard to stay calm cool and collect when you obviously see something is wrong, request aid, just to be told all is well. In that very scenario I live daily. There's clear violations, there are also clear pictures. 😉
Imagine this situation because it has driven me to be a stronger warrior. I may have some auras from the stress, but this purple warrior is not giving up. 💜
Although it has taken a lot out of me, all the advocacy skills I learned in order to be a certified Community Health Worker taught me how to push back. So I did, it really feels good when you're loud and right. ✊
Code enforcement inspectors come to check the repair I have requested. DIY son always was landlord's go-to. A previous leak made the drop ceiling tile stain and warp. Awful maintenance stayed worsening everything. Since their buddy buddy in City Hall, landlord gets away with murder.
Her friend Chief inspector even though I disagreed was waving the violations and saying all is well on Wednesday. Thursday, the very next day, the leak burst all over the bathroom.
By no means is that violation free. I called the problem over a year ago and yesterday was it's time. It's far beyond DIY, but rather than simply maintaining the property properly she chose DIY. People go to trade schools and legitimately learn the ins and outs of the trade (e.g. licenced plumber vs. handyman)
I can already know I will surpass this chapter because being a purple warrior gives me a drive to succeed. I have been introduced to a few higher, higher-ups. Senators. I'm a warrior that's not hesitating with sharing my experiences with everything, and things started to change. I'll admit that I am shy, but I felt I had to share the experiences with them for the problem to truly be tended to; it's always been swept under the rug.
It was time to really let it out and drop the microphone 🎤
