What's it mean to be a purple CHW? What good can come from it?

Being a community health worker for the epilepsy foundation New England includes providing compassion and empathy for the people living a difficult life with epilepsy. There's always someone in need and to fulfill the aid, there has to be a common ground for the client and chw. Having my life history with epilepsy, wearing my armor without hesitation, I have a good set of similarities in between.

A reason the initial connection is necessary for the client to feel comfortable with a worker, build a trust; common phrase "warm up" to the new person as does anyone facing change. Being a CHW with the same condition, communication would likely be more open, less fear of judgement. Deeper issues may even come to light. Seeing both sides of it I can relate to the clients and connect them to the appropriate resources.
