You never know when you're really listened to...

Updated: Nov 21, 2024

I'm game with constructive criticism or feedback of any kind, sometimes it is unexpected when and by who.

Upon a visit to the dispensary today, I hear "Hia Sarina" and this is a worker that I am not familiar with, and he asked would I be doing another one of those "seminar presentations" as he called it. Next presentation is made for mental health awareness, just awaiting a date, and he was happy to hear. Such a feeling of warmth came up inside of me.

Another worker told me how by me opening up with my disclosure and highlighting how there are negative stigmas around epilepsy and cannabis which aren't truthful, hard to ignore, and nothing to shame, more people have opened up about their conditions disclosing their own epilepsy that they weren't comfortable doing beforehand. Such a hurdle for fellow purple warriors.

It is an honor to know that my efforts in sharing awareness has made a difference for the greater good, the initial goal.

What do I define as meaningful? My perspective is helping out for the greater good. I would give myself credit, being a Certified Community Health Worker is meaningful work because it's to reach out connect people with proper resources when the Social Determinants of Health are up against them.
